Refund Policy

Last updated: March 2026

This Refund Policy describes when and how refunds are issued on the PrTask platform. PrTask uses an automatic payment model where clients are charged only upon approval of a pull request. This policy covers all refund scenarios, including applicable consumer protection rights under EU, Philippine, and other jurisdictions' laws.

1. Automatic Payment Model

PrTask uses an automatic payment model. Clients are only charged when they approve a pull request. No upfront payment or deposit is required when posting a task.

2. No Charge Before Approval

Clients are not charged until they explicitly approve a pull request. If no PR is approved, no payment is made. Clients may cancel a task at any time before approving a PR at no cost.

3. Refund After Approval

Once a client approves a pull request and is charged, the bounty is paid to the developer. Refunds are only issued in cases of platform error, fraudulent activity, or if the submitted work is materially different from what was described in the PR.

4. Disputed Pull Requests

If a client believes an approved PR does not meet the task requirements, PrTask initiates an arbitration process. Both parties must submit evidence within 7 business days. Possible outcomes include full refund to client if work does not meet requirements, full payment to developer if work meets the stated task requirements, or partial refund if work partially meets requirements (split determined by PrTask).

5. Abandoned Tasks

If a task receives no pull request submissions, the client may close it at any time. Since no payment is made until PR approval, there is nothing to refund for abandoned tasks.

6. Platform Errors

If a payment is processed incorrectly due to a platform error, PrTask will issue a full refund within 3 business days. Contact support at prtask.com with your transaction reference number.

7. EU 14-Day Right of Withdrawal

If you are an EU or EEA resident, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU). This right begins from the date of the transaction. You may exercise this right without giving any reason by contacting support@prtask.com within 14 days. PrTask will process your refund within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notification using the same payment method as the original transaction. This withdrawal right may be waived at the point of purchase if you give explicit prior consent and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the digital service (bounty payment to developer) is fully performed. If PrTask fails to inform you of the withdrawal right, it is automatically extended to 1 year.

8. Philippine Consumer Protection (RA 7394)

Philippine residents are entitled to consumer protection under Republic Act No. 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines). If a service fails to meet the description or quality standards represented at the time of purchase, you are entitled to a full refund or remediation. You may file a complaint with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) if your refund request is not resolved satisfactorily through PrTask's internal process. PrTask will cooperate fully with any DTI investigation.

9. Non-Refundable Items

The following are not eligible for refunds: bounties for pull requests that were reviewed, approved, and where the code has been merged and meets the task requirements; disputes filed more than 30 days after the transaction; and situations where the client has already used, deployed, or incorporated the submitted code into production. EU residents' statutory withdrawal rights are not affected by this section where those rights have not been validly waived.

10. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, log in to your PrTask account, navigate to the task in question, and select "Request Refund." Alternatively, email support at prtask.com with your task ID and reason for the refund request. All refund requests are reviewed within 2 business days.

11. Refund Processing Timeline

PrTask processes refunds within the following timelines: EU withdrawal right refunds within 14 days of receiving the withdrawal notice; platform error refunds within 3 business days; dispute resolution refunds within 5 business days of the resolution decision; and all other eligible refunds within 5 business days of approval. Actual receipt of the refund depends on your bank or payment provider and may take an additional 5-10 business days.

12. Refund Method

Refunds are processed to the original payment method used. Processing times depend on your bank or card issuer but typically take 5-7 business days after approval.

13. Chargeback Policy

If a client initiates a chargeback through their bank or credit card issuer instead of using our dispute resolution process, PrTask reserves the right to suspend the client's account pending investigation. Clients who file chargebacks without first attempting resolution through PrTask may have their accounts permanently terminated. We encourage all clients to use our built-in dispute and refund process before contacting their financial institution, as chargebacks incur fees and delays for all parties involved. PrTask reserves the right to pursue recovery of funds through appropriate legal channels.

14. No Escrow Model

PrTask does not hold funds in escrow. Bounties are charged directly to the client at the moment of PR approval and paid to the developer. There is no intermediary holding period. This ensures developers receive payment promptly and clients are only charged for approved work.

15. Contact

For refund requests or questions about this policy, contact support@prtask.com with your task ID and transaction reference number. For EU consumers exercising the right of withdrawal, include "EU Withdrawal" in your subject line. For Philippine consumer complaints, you may also contact the DTI directly.

About This Refund Policy

This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which payments made through PrTask may be refunded. Because PrTask uses an automatic payment model where bounties are disbursed upon pull request approval, the refund process is designed to be fair to both clients and developers. The policy covers scenarios including disputed work quality, abandoned tasks, platform errors, and regulatory requirements under EU and Philippine consumer protection laws.

PrTask does not charge developers until a pull request is approved, and clients are not charged until they explicitly fund a task bounty. This pay-on-approval model minimizes the need for refunds by ensuring that payment only occurs when both parties agree on the delivered work. If a refund is necessary, PrTask processes it through the original payment method within the timelines specified in this policy. Contact support@prtask.com to initiate a refund request or dispute a transaction.
